EVE and GWT Announce to Deliver Europe's First Marine Battery System with Active Balancing Technology
June 21, 2026 – Amsterdam the Netherlands
EVE Energy and Green Whale Technology (GWT) made a joint appearance at this week’s Advanced Maritime Technology Exhibition, announcing that they will jointly deliver the EVE-B2-1P18S-21 marine battery energy storage system (BESS) to a Dutch customer. This marks the first delivery of this product in the Netherlands and represents the first-ever real-vessel application of active balancing technology in the European marine battery sector.
The EVE-B2-1P18S-21 marine battery system delivered this time utilizes specially selected and customized marine-grade cells, combining high safety, high energy density with extended cycle life. Equipped with unique active balancing technology, the system guarantees a service life of up to 15 years. This technology not only significantly reduces energy loss, battery heating, and cell balancing costs but also extends system longevity well beyond other lithium iron phosphate (LFP) systems currently on the market, substantially lowering customers’ total cost of ownership.
The system has obtained BV classification certification, with DNV, ABS, and LR certifications expected to be completed by Q3 of 2026. Notably, EVE is currently the world’s only supplier capable of providing LFP marine batteries with 3C continuous discharge capability, offering a superior alternative for high-rate maritime applications.
This exhibition marked the first participation for both EVE and GWT, who jointly showcased alongside EVE’s strategic partner Royal van der Leun, presenting a complete marine battery solution tailored for the local market. During the show, GWT also co-hosted an interactive panel discussion on behalf of EVE together with Royal van der Leun, titled “Beyond diesel: How batteries & hybrid power are reshaping vessel operations.” The booth attracted considerable attention from Dutch and European shipowners, shipyards, battery makers and industry experts, laying a solid foundation for future market expansion.
EVE has accumulated nine years of application experience in the LFP marine battery sector. As a true cell and battery manufacturer, EVE leverages its deep cell chemistry expertise, robust product R&D capabilities, and stringent management and quality control to provide high-quality cells and battery systems to over 1,000 vessels globally across various ship types.
During the week, EVE team also visited the new facility of GWT in Rotterdam, with good ability of storage and office extention. GWT has professional teams based in the Netherlands, Norway and China, offering customers: Customized solutions and project management; Delivery, commissioning, and after-sales support; Cloud platform and remote maintenance services (hosted on EU-local servers ensuring data compliance and security); and Spare parts inventory (dual hubs in the Netherlands and Norway) and battery recycling support.
GWT and EVE have previously completed projects including Asia’s first BV-class marine battery container system. This Dutch project represents yet another significant milestone in their strategic partnership.
Godfrey Wang, CEO of GWT, stated: “We are extremely proud to collaborate strategically with EVE to introduce this advanced technology to the European marine market for the first time. GWT’s local teams will ensure full life-cycle services—from solution design to recycling—providing our customers with reliable, safe, and long-lasting clean energy solutions.”
Xiong Yongcong, Head of EVE’s Marine & Port Business, commented: “Through close collaboration with GWT across product development, solution design, manufacturing, delivery, and service, we are committed to providing customers with the most advanced battery technology and global support throughout the entire product lifecycle. The application of active balancing technology to marine battery products is an important milestone for us, and we look forward to seeing this series gain widespread adoption in the European maritime market.”
This was a highly successful exhibition and an important milestone for both GWT and EVE in the European market. Both parties look forward to joining forces to deliver even greater power to the local maritime clean energy industry!
EVE Energy signs strategic partnership with Green Whale Technology to set up global customer support network and cloud server in EU
December 4, 2025 – Shanghai China
In a move set to accelerate the future of marine electrification, EVE Energy, and Green Whale Technology (GWT) have signed a strategic partnership agreement to provide high-performance marine Battery Energy Storage Solutions (BESS) and service to customers worldwide. This collaboration combines EVE Energy’s advanced lithium marine battery system technology, and GWT’s marine engineering, lifecycle service and commissioning expertise.
Note that EVE Energy and GWT have already delivered the first BV-classed marine battery container ever built in Asia within record time. Now, both parties step up their collaboration with a shared vision: to make marine energy storage more affordable, more reliable, and safer – and to get closer to the customer. The strategic agreement is structured as a back-to-back partnership, ensuring comprehensive support from EVE Energy across all aspects of our collaboration.
In practice, both the new BESS and the joint way of working feature several eye-catching characteristics:
First, thanks to EVE’s active balancing technology, these systems deliver a lifetime of up to 15 years, surpassing any LFP systems in the market today, and significantly reducing total cost of ownership.
Second, the high C-rate maritime battery market was long dominated by NMC cell-based systems. EVE, however, is currently the only supplier in the world offering 3C continuous LFP marine batteries, offering a longer lifetime than NMC-based system in many application scenarios.
Third, the alliance’s massive production capability, advanced Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) chemistry technology, maritime experience, cost advantages, data safety, and global service capacity shows this solution’s potential to be a game-changer in the market.
Godfrey Wang, CEO of Green Whale Technology B.V., states: “GWT is very proud of this partnership, especially because we are a young company. This really strengthens our ability to provide lifecycle solutions to global customers. I would like to thank the entire EVE team for their trust and seamless collaboration, and we look forward to growing together.”
Europe-based cloud services and spare parts
To support customers globally, and with higher standards, Green Whale Technology is establishing an NL-based cloud service platform, guaranteeing local data compliance, digital security, and mitigating geopolitical risks. Spare parts storage in Norway and the Netherlands further strengthen timely after-sales support, while joint R&D initiatives promise continued innovation.
Production capacity and cost
As one of the world’s largest battery manufacturers (cells and systems), EVE Energy leverages its huge ESS system factory capacity of over 10 MWh per day to ensure scalability and timely delivery. In addition, the 3C marine battery system is priced below USD 300 per kWh, which is unique in the current market.
In conclusion, EVE Energy’s Head of Marine & Port, Yong Cong Xiong says:
“By collaborating on all the key elements in BESS development, manufacturing, delivery and service, we aim to ensure that customers receive the best available battery technology, backed by global support throughout the product lifecycle of our systems. We are very proud that we can now extend the system’s lifetime to 15 years with an experienced local service provider, GWT, and look forward to seeing them deployed in the maritime markets.”
